Thanks, got it
Reports are re-verified against Steam and ProtonDB in the weekly sweep. If this page is wrong, it gets fixed.
What does this mean?
CrossOver means there's no Mac build, but the Windows version runs through CrossOver (a paid, supported Wine layer), rated Platinum on ProtonDB, which tracks how well Windows games run on the same Wine technology. GameToMac is a free app that sets up a short list of Windows games on Apple Silicon Macs. What we show for it is the app's own claim, which we have not tested yet. Compatibility is verified against Steam and community sources. Learn how Mac game compatibility works →

How to play Overwatch® on Mac
Overwatch® has no Mac build, but the Windows version runs on Mac through CrossOver, a compatibility layer built on Wine (the same technology behind Steam's Proton). ProtonDB rates it Platinum, so it runs great right out of the box.
- Install CrossOver (or Whisky). Get CrossOver from CodeWeavers. It's paid but has a free trial. Prefer free? Whisky is an open-source alternative built on the same technology.
- Install the game in a "bottle". Open CrossOver, search for Overwatch®, and let it create a bottle (a self-contained Windows environment), then install the game from Steam, GOG, or Epic inside it.
- Apply any tweaks. CrossOver usually applies the right settings for you. If something's off, ProtonDB's community reports for Overwatch® list the exact fixes other players used.
- Play. It runs right on top of macOS, with no full Windows install and no rebooting. One caveat: online modes with strict anti-cheat can be hit-or-miss, so CrossOver is most reliable for single-player.
Another way to play: GameToMac
GameToMac, a free app that launched in September 2026, says it runs the Windows Steam version of Overwatch® on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 26 or later: online multiplayer. You need your own copy and a Battle.net account; GameToMac sets up the rest and launches the game from its own library. We have not confirmed that ourselves yet.
Compared with the CrossOver route above, it is free and does the setup for you, but it only covers 19 games, needs a recent macOS, and is a brand-new app from an independent developer. What GameToMac is and how it compares.
