What does this mean?

CrossOver means there's no Mac build, but the Windows version runs through CrossOver (a paid, supported Wine layer). GameToMac is a subscription app that sets up a short list of Windows games on Apple Silicon Macs. What we show for it is the app's own claim, which we have not tested yet. How to play Diablo II: Resurrected on Mac

Diablo II: Resurrected has no Mac build, but the Windows version runs on Mac through CrossOver, a compatibility layer built on Wine (the same technology behind Steam's Proton).

  1. Install CrossOver (or Whisky). Get CrossOver from CodeWeavers. It's paid but has a free trial. Prefer free? Whisky is an open-source alternative built on the same technology.
  2. Install the game in a "bottle". Open CrossOver, search for Diablo II: Resurrected, and let it create a bottle (a self-contained Windows environment), then install the game from its own launcher (Battle.net, for Blizzard games) inside it.
  3. Apply any tweaks. CrossOver usually applies the right settings for you. If something's off, ProtonDB's community reports for Diablo II: Resurrected list the exact fixes other players used.
  4. Play. It runs right on top of macOS, with no full Windows install and no rebooting. One caveat: online modes with strict anti-cheat can be hit-or-miss, so CrossOver is most reliable for single-player.

Another way to play: GameToMac

GameToMac, an app that launched in September 2026 (now a subscription, with a 7-day free trial), says it runs the Windows Battle.net version of Diablo II: Resurrected on Apple Silicon Macs with macOS 26.5 or later: the Battle.net PC edition. You need your own copy and a Battle.net account; GameToMac sets up the rest and launches the game from its own library. We have not confirmed that ourselves yet.

Compared with the CrossOver route above, it has a free trial and does the setup for you, but it only covers 21 games, needs a recent macOS, and is a brand-new app from an independent developer. What GameToMac is and how it compares.
